Overview of Educational Programs

Miles is a freelance educator who teaches all ages. His work ranges from providing kindergarten students their earliest music experiences all the way through to leading postgraduate study for professional music educators.

Residencies

Miles has been in classrooms for 25 years, and feels privileged to share the music he has learned with others. Click here to learn more about school residencies.

Assemblies

Miles will come to your school and put on a delightful musical assembly. With his sparkling banjo, driving guitar, warm voice, and his ability to communicate with all audiences, he is a sure bet for any assembly planner.

School Orchestras

Miles works with high school and junior high school orchestras, bringing his impassioned musicianship into a concert with your students.

Universities

Since 1988, Miles has served as a visiting professor to Villanova University in Philadelphia, and the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.  Miles specializes in preparing professional music educators to use the guitar, banjo, and folk music in the classroom.

Funding in Illinois

As a member of Illinois Arts Council’s juried rosters, funding is available to non-profit organizations and schools in Illinois, who would like to present Michael J. Miles.
